On His Own

I have a deep respect for John Mayer.

Before Grade 111, I had sworn off popular music because of my RCM Music History class2. I first started listening to John when Kenny played a couple of Mayer-esque things way back in Grade 11. I'd always think, "Well, he's 10 years old, so I've got 10 years to catch up."

I never did. But Mayer's still opening up new soundscapes for me to get all teenage giddy again. The Nokia Theatre concert in December was one of those moments.

It took a while to find, but the concert was found.3

This is just one of many dimensions of God's common grace upon all mankind.

i also took rcm history with lynn harting-ware! i took them at euromusic ( when she was still with them i think?) in a cold room with a textbook she had written herself. i don't remember enjoying that class very much - but it seems like you did, since you swore off popular music???

also, i have yet to listen to this - i haven't had time to unzip it yet ! although with that kind of a review, i feel like i should MAKE time to have a listening session with john.

did you think that medley section was kind of lazy on his part? i mean, i don't expect him to know his full repertoire, but ... you should be prepared for your performances.
